Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (Moscow Ensemble) was founded in March, 1990, by composer Yuri Kasparov under patronage of the famous Russian composer Edison Denisov. The aim of the Ensemble’s creative activities is to broadly promote Russian 20th and 21st centuries music abroad and contemporary Western music in this country. Russia’s first recitals of Nicolai Roslavets and Alexander Mosolov are linked with the name of the Ensemble, with their programs featuring both the composers’ well-known works and the ones never performed before. The recitals of composers Alfred Schnitke and Edison Denisov, the leading composers of the last third of the outgoing century, included, along with conceptual works, also suites from movies and music to dramatic productions.
